LONDON AWARE '08

The holistic approach to learning more about greener living, one of the UK’s premier green consumer events, LONDON AWARE ‘08, will take place on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th of May 2008 at the Barbican, London Wall.

LONDON AWARE ‘08 aims to inspire the public, the business world and charities, bringing them together to share ideas.
The oranisers are passionate about helping the environment, and encouraging sustainable living: “We are everyday people. This expo is for everyday people like you and us, who enjoy conventional modern life but are also interested in considerate living. So please come along – we look forward to seeing you there”.

Guest speakers
To add depth and integrity to LONDON AWARE ‘08 there will be two lecture theatres with 32 expert guest speakers talking on climate change related topics. The speakers include environmental scientists, CEO’s, CSR managers, politicians, futurists and arctic explorers, all of whom share a common interest – to make LONDON AWARE ‘08 the success it needs to be. Because UK AWARE are keen to make LONDON AWARE ‘08 a thought provoking experience, all talks are free.

Authors
An inspiring selection of topical authors will be present at LONDON AWARE ‘08. They will be available for book signing and general discussion. The full list will be released shortly and you can see who’ll be there at the UKAware website.

Supporting future designers & engineers
Students accross the country are invited to enter their environmentally friendly innovations into the ‘Eco-Innovation Award’. This brand new and exciting award hosted by UK AWARE, in association with People and Planet, aims to highlight and support new talent in the field of eco innovation and more broadly aspires to develop student’s enthusiasm for greener living. It will give exposure to the UK’s future designers and engineers by giving the shortisted entries exhibition space at LONDON AWARE ‘08.

Exhibitors
Our exhibitors will be showcasing a huge variety of products, services and advice to help you reduce your carbon footprint. These will include advice & formation services, carbon offsetting, charities & NGOs, eco-build eco-tourism, ethical investment, green consumer products, hybrid / alternative vehicles, organic food, recycling & eco-packaging (a popular topic with gug supporters); and renewable & alternative energy.

Ticket proceeds from the event will be given to charity
London Aware explains: “As a social enterprise, we are keen to support suitable charities which we admire. Ticket sales from LONDON AWARE ‘08 will be donated to Cool Earth, People & Planet and Stop Climate Chaos”.
